NOTE FROM SAM

After 20 years of working in schools as a School Psychologist I decided to begin my own private practice. My goal is to provide a reliable, efficient and comprehensive service to parents, guardians and the wider community including schools, who already providing amazing specialized services to our young people.

What can I offer that is different to other Psychology services available?

I aim to provide a service to parents to optimise their understanding and thus their ability support their child’s learning, behavioural and social-emotional needs in relation to the home, school and wider environment.

I have extensive experience working with parents and their children and have a particular interest in supporting school age children 3 – 17 years of age.

While my experience and expertise continues to develop, my areas of specialty include: Assessment and diagnosis of specific learning difficulties (including Dyslexia), social – emotional issues including separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression and behavioural issues. I am also passionate about supporting parents to extend and develop healthy relationships with their children and I offer specialized support and intervention as a trained Circle of Security Parenting facilitator.

I have extensive experience working with schools at a systems level and offer services around social-emotional planning and policy, learning, Aussie Optimism teacher training, stress management, attachment, behaviour management; and crisis management planning and policy development.

I have worked in schools for many years and understand the hard work they do. I am also a parent myself and understand the desire to support and advocate for your child. My goal therefore, is to provide a service that supports both parents/guardians and school personnel to optimize an individual young person’s education and overall development.   My experience and knowledge about schools, including knowledge about the resources available and the policies and procedures inherent within the school system, means that I am able to work collaboratively with both schools and parents / guardians to develop effective and realistic support specific to your child’s needs.
